Albums of the Week
L.S. Dunes - Past Lives
The new post-hardcore supergroup featuring members of Circa Survive, My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and Thursday, are delivering their Will Yip-produced debut and, unsurprisingly, it’s full of absolute rippers. While the energy and angst of its members’ more popular bands are apparent, L.S. Dunes still feels like a fresh project, and one that certainly deserves some time alone with your ears today.
Past Lives is out now on Fantasy Records
Action/Adventure - Imposter Syndrome
Chicago’s Action/Adventure unveil their long-awaited debut full-length, Imposter Syndrome. The album is full of rip-roaring pop punk built on massive hooks, filthy guitar riffs, and a helluva lot of fun.
Imposter Syndrome is out now on Pure Noise Records
Singles Spotlight
Ben Quad - "You're Part Of It"
Hey! "You're Part Of It" is the new single from Ben Quad. The track comes just a few months after the Oklahoma fifth-wave emo kings dropped their awesome debut album, I'm Scared That's All There Is. The new single marks a departure from that sound — the gorgeous and intricate guitarwork is there, but now topped with a yelled vocal approach that oozes with emotional strain — and they knocked it out of the park.
Body Thief - "Death, Drugs & Dancing"
D.C. / Baltimore-based trio Body Thief announced their signing to Blue Swan Records this week, and with it the first taste of their forthcoming new album. “Death, Drugs & Dancing” is a groove-heavy track with plucky guitar riffs, thumping bass, and pristine vocals.
Every Ending is out 12/16 on Blue Swan Records
Invent Animate - "Elysium"
Invent Animate return with their crushing new single, “Elysium”. The progressive metalcore act out of Texas deliver a brutally emotional track that tackles the heft of grief; its struggle reflected in the song’s atmospheric and heavy sonics.
